An interesting example of the “Six Million Jews” phrase as this article links to Palestine.
Making a statement on behalf of the Jewish Mission Committee, Rev. Frank Cairns said that evidently there was some trouble with regard to the policy of the committee. The situation was, of course, dominated by finance. In Palestine there was a population of 175,000 Jews, who cost the Jewish Committee of the Church £6000 year. In the rest of Europe there were six million Jews and they cost £5000. They came to the conclusion that, owing to the financial position, they would have to close down two schools in Palestine. One hundred and seventy pounds was contributed altogether by Dundee Presbytery, but there were 16 congregations which contributed nothing.
